Windows 7 Keeps Crashing?

Hello and thanks again for the support.

System specs.

Gateway NV52
  1. AMD Athlon 64 X2 QL-64
  2. 15.6" 16:9 HD LED LCD
  3. 320 GB HDD
  4. 4 GB Memory (NOT UPGRADABLE!!!!!)
  7. MULTI-in-1 card reader
Those are my specs, Win 7 clean install.

So when I shut down my computer and start later, it just freezes at the windows screen. Windows fails to load. Then I have to hold down the power button and the computer shuts down. Then I when i start it I have to have the system repaired and THEN it restarts. Last night the repair did not work and I had to restores it back to the tenth. Today I started my computer, same issue.

From what I understand this was after a Windows update. IDK how to fix it and I have to keep my computer on all the time now.

Windows 10, Home Clean Install

If you think it was an update, look up when it was installed, and then use system restore from a few days before the problem. You will get the update again, but do not install this time.

You could just uninstall it, but I think you are better off with the SR, everything will go back to good times

so System Restore is not going to help I don't think.

Windows7inMiami, you don't mention what video card you have (other than ATI in My System Specs), but do you have the latest drivers for it?

How many programs do you have going at the start up?
What AV program are you running?
Try a Safe mode start up.
IMHO................Have you done a backup before all this happened?

It sounds like something is seriously crosswise in your system. If you can no longer do a system restore then even if you manage to get your system working you are in serious danger anyway with no way to fix or restore if you have an issue.

You MAY want to consider a clean reinstall and then make a "gold" copy of the complete stable image that you can store "just in case" which apparently you do not have now.

If you don't want to do that then:
What do your system logs show just prior to crash (Errors and warnings).
Have you installed any new hardware recently? (uninstall it and test again)
Any new software? (uninstall it and test again)
Backed out the Windows (and other software) updates?
How are your temps?
Run ram diagnostics.

Windows 7

This is what I did and I THINK it is working. After it no longer started up and after the windows restore didn't work meaning I had to hit F8 at the startup and then QUICKLY hit enter to do a restore through DOS or my computer would shut off!!!!

Once that happened I restored it to the 10th (this was 14th or Monday night). After this the compter started and all the Windows alerts went off stating that I needed to update Windows 7 and Windows Security. After I did that the computer once again restarted and started right up.

When I get home today I will once again restart and see if it freezes again.

Updates later.....
