Cannot log in to win7 "service not available"

    Hi!

This is my problem that started after i tried to remove HP-protect tools on my HP Compaq 6710b with Win7 Enterprise.

When i enter my log in details, i get the error "Windows Security - Service not available, contact your system administrator"

The computer boots and i can log in fine in Safe mode, but iI haven't been able to figure out what is wrong.

I can post logs from the event viewer if this would help.

I tried reinstalling the Hp security manager but it didnt reinstall, only ended install with an error.

It seems the computer tries to access some additional hp security features on login but cannot find the service since it is not running. Can i get some kind of verbose error reporting so i know what is wrong? I looked in the event log and found some errors for network:

"The Computer Browser service depends on the Server service which failed to start because of the following error:
The dependency service or group failed to start."

I also used the program soluto.com yesterday to cut down boot-times and it seems i shut down some services that were needed. Is there a way to reset the windows services?

    best regards

    Welcome

Can you make a new administrator account in safe mode? Go to system restore in safe mode?

You can use systme restore to return to the point before you tried to make the OS better.

    Hi!

Ifound a way to get in, by selecting more login options and ticking "Do not log in to credential manager" I think this is the HP Credentials manager that i disabled in a bad way. I'm going to try to see if i can restore it with soluto or reinstall it...

    Yes.
    Solved.

    Solution is this:

At login, select "Use login wizard", select "more" and enable "Do not log in to Credential manager"
When in windows Reinstall "HP Protect tools security manager suite."
If questioned about c++ redist 2005, just cancel.

    Worked for me
