Sleep mode totally screwed up my computer
What turned out to be a simple keyboard cleaning has somehow left my computer totally useless.
I unplugged my keyboard to clean it and plugged it back in, but then remembered that it wasn't recognized unless I restarted (that's another thing - is there a way where I can unplug and plug back in k/m and have it functional still? Other components work like that). I had a lot of documents open so instead I put it into sleep for a sec, thinking that maybe it would recognize the keyboard after I woke it up (since waking up and starting are kinda similar).
This is where the problem begins. It took a bit longer than I would have thought to enter sleep but it did happen. I clicked the button to wake it up after a moment, but instead it restarted and then just hanged at the "_" you see when you start up before it says Starting Windows.
I tried the Windows Recovery disc to repair but it was useless. It didn't list any windows installations so consequently, the Startup Repair could not fix anything. Looking at the error log, the cause was found
I have searched some already on this site and others for my problem but most do not address if there are no windows installations discovered (or if they do and I didn't see them, could somebody link me to a thread?)Code:Root cause found: Boot manager is missing or corrupt Repair action: file repair Result: failed. Error code: 0x15
I have no idea why this happened but am convinced it's from putting it to sleep. Seems illogical but I never use sleep and have changed nothing about my computer recently - no new hardware/software installations, no registry changes, no errors in anything recently, I restarted my computer yesterday just fine. I also have up to date AV and FW as well. Sleep was the only thing out of the ordinary that has happened with my computer. Not sure if I have the hybrid sleep problem or not, can't start Windows to see if it was enabled.
I'm on Windows 7 x64, from a self built machine from last September. This is the ONLY Operating system installed, there is only 1 internal hard drive ATM (the one I installed Windows 7 on) with an external on the side. One time I did actually use the recovery disc to solve booting but not this time.
