Sorry for chiming in on this topic,

I have ran SFC /VERIFYONLY in admin mode, and it returned all files are good.Code:================================================== Dump File : 062510-17082-01.dmp Crash Time : 25/06/2010 14:26:25 Bug Check String : SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED Bug Check Code : 0x1000007e Parameter 1 : 0xc0000005 Parameter 2 : 0x88fbabe1 Parameter 3 : 0x8c7aba90 Parameter 4 : 0x8c7ab670 Caused By Driver : volsnap.sys Caused By Address : volsnap.sys+cbe1 File Description : Volume Shadow Copy Driver Product Name : Microsoft® Windows® Operating System Company : Microsoft Corporation File Version : 6.1.7600.16385 (win7_rtm.090713-1255) Processor : 32-bit Computer Name : Full Path : C:\Windows\Minidump\062510-17082-01.dmp Processors Count : 2 Major Version : 15 Minor Version : 7600 ================================================== ================================================== Dump File : 062510-18844-01.dmp Crash Time : 25/06/2010 14:17:16 Bug Check String : KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED Bug Check Code : 0x1000008e Parameter 1 : 0xc0000005 Parameter 2 : 0x8e26a8a5 Parameter 3 : 0x84c0f9f4 Parameter 4 : 0x00000000 Caused By Driver : afd.sys Caused By Address : afd.sys+258a5 File Description : Ancillary Function Driver for WinSock Product Name : Microsoft® Windows® Operating System Company : Microsoft Corporation File Version : 6.1.7600.16385 (win7_rtm.090713-1255) Processor : 32-bit Computer Name : Full Path : C:\Windows\Minidump\062510-18844-01.dmp Processors Count : 2 Major Version : 15 Minor Version : 7600 ================================================== ================================================== Dump File : 061210-18220-01.dmp Crash Time : 12/06/2010 17:35:19 Bug Check String : IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Bug Check Code : 0x0000000a Parameter 1 : 0xffffffff Parameter 2 : 0x00000002 Parameter 3 : 0x00000001 Parameter 4 : 0x82a87aaa Caused By Driver : ntkrnlpa.exe Caused By Address : ntkrnlpa.exe+4682b File Description : NT Kernel & System Product Name : Microsoft® Windows® Operating System Company : Microsoft Corporation File Version : 6.1.7600.16539 (win7_gdr.100226-1909) Processor : 32-bit Computer Name : Full Path : C:\Windows\Minidump\061210-18220-01.dmp Processors Count : 2 Major Version : 15 Minor Version : 7600 ================================================== ================================================== Dump File : 061210-25818-01.dmp Crash Time : 12/06/2010 15:35:35 Bug Check String : KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED Bug Check Code : 0x1000008e Parameter 1 : 0xc0000005 Parameter 2 : 0x82c89d35 Parameter 3 : 0x84c5ba4c Parameter 4 : 0x00000000 Caused By Driver : ntkrnlpa.exe Caused By Address : ntkrnlpa.exe+288d35 File Description : NT Kernel & System Product Name : Microsoft® Windows® Operating System Company : Microsoft Corporation File Version : 6.1.7600.16539 (win7_gdr.100226-1909) Processor : 32-bit Computer Name : Full Path : C:\Windows\Minidump\061210-25818-01.dmp Processors Count : 2 Major Version : 15 Minor Version : 7600 ================================================== ================================================== Dump File : 102609-20326-01.dmp Crash Time : 26/10/2009 21:21:11 Bug Check String : IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Bug Check Code : 0x0000000a Parameter 1 : 0x0000010c Parameter 2 : 0x00000002 Parameter 3 : 0x00000000 Parameter 4 : 0x82aa1da6 Caused By Driver : ntkrnlpa.exe Caused By Address : ntkrnlpa.exe+467eb File Description : NT Kernel & System Product Name : Microsoft® Windows® Operating System Company : Microsoft Corporation File Version : 6.1.7600.16539 (win7_gdr.100226-1909) Processor : 32-bit Computer Name : Full Path : C:\Windows\Minidump\102609-20326-01.dmp Processors Count : 2 Major Version : 15 Minor Version : 7600 ==================================================
I also ran Memtest+ overnight, and no error at all.
The Event Viewer in Win7 is still completely worthless in searching for clues to problems.
Since the BSOD doesn't originate in the same file, and the errors are different, can I exclude bad hardware ? I have a dual boot system with XP, and there I haven't seen a BSOD in years, so that means memory and hardware are not at fault I think.
The problem is, the BSOD happen so random, one time while browsing with Firefox, the next time while doing nothing (return to my desk and see the BSOD occured while I was away).
I have the latest drivers for my ATI videocard, and a working driver (allthough these are very rare) for the Creative soundcard.
Hard drive error scans all turn out fine too.
I really don't know what to think about being the problem.
