BSOD all of the sudden

Hi,

I tried opening my minidump file with Windbg, like I always do, but now it says it doesn't support older scrash minidump files. Anyway, I appreciate anybody who can help me understand why my system went berserk..

Thanks in advance.

Amin

Hi amins2s,

Please start a new thread and repost your dump there. We will be glad to assist you. This will avoid confusion between your problem and Jason's problem.

Thanks!

I have asked the mods to move this to its own thread.

Your dmp doesn't reveal too much. All I'll note is that Microsoft Remote Access Dialer was running at the time of the crash, for what it's worth. Could be anti-virus, outdated network drivers, or something completely unrelated.

If you have more dmps, please upload them.

In the meantime, please enable driver verifier: Using Driver Verifier to identify issues with Drivers

KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000008e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.
Arguments:
Arg1: c0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: 00000088, The address that the exception occurred at
Arg3: b9863bd4, Trap Frame
Arg4: 00000000

Thank you very much for moving it quickly. Yeah, sorry, I didn't notice the whole thread was 'talking' about a single issue.

Jonathan, I have this other dump file from two days ago. The thing about dialer looks like one of last things that happened before the BSOD happened. My VPN connection just failed, and I was disconnected. While it asked for a redial, the blue screen appeared.

All of these old drivers are contributing to the instability of your system. they are all prior to win 7's release date.

They need to be updated
