Ran Memtest overnight while I slept. It completed 7 passes with 0 errors this time. So I have no idea how the first time I ran it it could have returned 1480 errors at the completion of the first pass. Can overheating or something return errors?
Sometime you have to do the test several cycles my friend. Have you tried the advise that Ken (Zigzag3143) told you, that try single stick or pair on different slots

Ah ok thanks for the info. I have not yet tested it with the sticks in different configurations. Was planning to do that tonight when I get home.

Any chance that opening up my laptop case and pulling the sticks would void a warranty. Just double checking because I have a full warranty for another year and don't want to void it if in fact something is wrong with my memory.

Yes, it may well void your warranty. If you have have a warranty, take advantage of it and take your computer back to where you bought it or ship it to the repair center.

Give them a thorough description of the the problems and the results of your memtests. This could be a lot of things from a bad RAM slot to a bad graphics chip. Let the techs sort it out while you have a warranty. Ask the techs for the details of what they do. But let us know what you find out.

    Just an Update

    Hello-

Just an update for anyone who spent their time helping me, and was maybe curious. Sent the computer in to sager warranty, and they ended up replacing both memory sticks. Found one bad sector on the hard drive, and replace that too, but that obviously wasn't causing the problem. Nothing wrong with the video card thankfully.

Thanks for your help and advice before, I appreciate it. The computer is working great again.

Russell, that is great news. I am sorry that you had to send you computer off; but delighted they found the problem and fixed it under warranty. Glad you are up and running smoothly. Thanks much for reporting back.
