What kind of problem do I have?

I have a new Lenovo computer with a 3.0 AMD dual core processor. It has 3.0 G of RAM. I was running IE8 but now it will not load at all. I have updated and run scans with Malwarebytes and Spybot Search and Destroy but that has not helped as of yet I did run a McAfee scan and it said I had some problems. I clicked fix and it said the problem could not be fixed because of errors. I attempted to download HiJackthis and I could not get it to run. I devIoped a problem with Yahoo Messenger as I could not sign in. I decided to uninstall it and then download and install again. Now when I download it, I did not have an option to save it to the desktop and when I click run the box disappears and nothing happens. I feel like my computer is in the Bermuda Triangle.

    1) Let us know what problems mcafee finds. That'll help.

    2) As a generic cure, you can try an sfc scan or a repair install to repair corrupted system files.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    Repair Install

When I type in sfc /scannow I get an error message saying, "SFC is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

You need to run sfc in an elevated command prompt. Click on Start button, type "cmd" without quotes, then right click on the result, select "Run as administrator".

    Now run the sfc command.

Thanks for your help. The scan did not find any "integrity problems". My main concern is that IE8 will not load. Since itwill not load, I can not get my report from Hijackthis. Also there seems to be some component in Yahoo Messenger that works with IE that is damaged and will not load. Are there any suggestions on how to fix IE8?

    Go to tools>internet options>advanced>reset

This will remove all addons, IE8 should be working again.

You can also use another browser Chrome and Firefox are nice.

I reset IE8 but it still will not load. Firefox works but I need for IE to work properly as there seems to be something in IE that works in conjunction with yahoo messenger. Also when I run Hijackthis, the "analyze this" report is in IE. Thanks for your help.
