Win7 boots to blank screen (no login box), startup repair not working

    I think we have now come full circle to where I began on this thread. What I *do* have is the Acer system recovery disk which offers only one option that it says will wipe out my C drive. What I do *not* have is the Windows Startup (or whatever it is) disk which contains the "recovery console" that would allegedly help me to repair this.

    I haven't yet seen a link to download that, if that's available.

    Any advice welcome.
