Aero causes Windows 7 64-Bit to freeze when resizing browser windows
Hey everyone,
I built a machine from scratch yesterday, and everything went fairly well. I installed Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit, and it seemed to be running fine. However, after I got the system to boot and installed all the latest drivers for my hardware, I noticed that whenever I would try to resize a browser window (IE, Firefox, Chrome, even Windows Explorer), the system would freeze, and then I would have to do a hard reset to get it to come back on. After trying a few different browsers, I decided to disable Aero and use a basic theme rather than an Aero theme, and the problem seemed to go away. I also fired up Half-Life 2 and it seems to run at full specs without any problems, so I'm fairly sure that it's not an issue with my graphics card.
My question is, is this a bug with Windows 7, or does it seem to be more hardware related? I'd like to be able to use Aero, but it's not necessary and I'm more concerned that this is an issue with my graphics card that is going to pop up when I'm doing other things.
Here are my system specs:
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2ghz
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-770TA-UD3
Graphics: MSI 1gb ATI Radeon HD 5770
RAM: 4gb G.Skill DDR3 1333mhz
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar 640gb 7200RPM
Optical Drive: Sony Optiarc DVD/CD Burner
PSU: Antec BP430, 430W Power Supply
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. :)
