would restoring a windows 7 hp laptop to factory settings fix the deadly BSOD problem

No, looking at the earlier thread and the minidumps, you have a hardware problem. Putting the OS back to factory specs would not fix that. It may be your hard drive, MB, ram sticks etc, that will not go away by restoring factory specs. The computer must be repaired.
