Well I updated my Creative drivers. Asus doesn't seem to support Windows 7 for my motherboard as I can't select it in any of the OS options, so I haven't found a way to update the ASACPI.sys.

It crashed again today, when I tried to open Outlook. Minidmp is attached.

    Error codes from bsod.

I think we have the answer. Your setup is not compatible with Windows 7.

Go ahead and follow usasma's advice, that is a bit cheaper than buying a new motherboard.

You have 2 options for the ASACPI.sys driver file:
    - remove it (some people say this doesn't cause issues - but I'm not sure of that)
    - manually install a later copy of the ASACPI.sys driver file (my suggestion)

I have attached a zipped copy of the 64 bit ASACPI.sys file for Win7 that I use on my system. As with any attachment on the web - scan it with your antivirus BEFORE opening.

Then, open up Windows Explorer as an Administrator
To do this, go to Start...All Programs...Accessories
Right click on Windows Explorer and select "Run as adminstrator"
    Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers
Rename the current ASACPI.sys to ASACPI.BAK Then copy the new ASACPI.sys file to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers directory.
Reboot and then check to make sure that the new version is still there.

Thanks, I'll do what usasma suggested. If it doesn't work I always have my steadfast XP installation.

I'll let ya know how it goes!

Still getting crashes. Even had a crash be blamed on ntfs.sys. Ran check disks on the hard drives no errors. Some of the other codes are blamed on other .sys files but doing research I find that hardware compatibility is always listed as a probable factor.

    ASUSTeK Computer Inc.

Looks like this will be my new best friend. It supports my Pentium D 940, supports DDR2 667, and it supports my two 7950GTs.

    Hooray!
