I have a error a every boot Error 4107 CAPI 2 failed to extract rootlist from windows update .com and also have a 1530 Warning reg leak at shutdown. Recently had to remove virus bloodhound exploit 281 and restore back a couple weeks but didnt notice error until reinstalling windows updates that were removed during restore. The only thing a have noticed is short black screen before logon sc reen appears and event viewer listing at every boot. I have installed the link in the error log in event viewer but didn't fix.THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

I had the same problem and mentioned by a few others. The solution for me as well as the others is to go to services. Make sure that windows media network sharing is disabled. First make sure that no other service depends on it. Click on the service to get the infomation. I have read that an update problem has caused this and that a patch is coming soon.

Hi savannahmick again I disabled Windows Media Sharing Service no help

I went services and disabled Windows Media Sharing Service and then I shutdown and then booted and longer boot time than before and error 4107 in event viewer. Thanks for you reply it has worked for most people, but I think mine is related to seaport exe./search enhancement I have seen warnings before this issue relating to search enhancement. I'm not sure exactly what is does or it's importence do you have any information on this? Is there something I didn't do when I disabled Windows Media Sharing Service that I need to disable completely or should I just wait for patch?THANKS AGAIN!

I will tell you everything that I know. I never heard of this problem before Monday, when I had the problem. I have over 7000 posts and never heard of this problem before yesterday, when several had the same problem This cannot be a conincidence. You can try to update the license, but that does not really seem to work, althouth that is the official answer.

Go into the event viewer then locate the error and click on the link. and then install.
See if that helps, but I doubt it.

I am getting this same error. Mine started on 7/11. I open that cab file in WinRAR and it shows a date of 7/8, so maybe the cab file is messed up. Also had this same problem back on 12/1/2009 and 12/2/2009 then it cleared. I read online that you can go to Event Viewer/Applications and Service Log/Microsoft/Windows/CAPI2/Operations and on the right side Enable Log. Then it will give you tons of entries and look for errors that match the same time as the Event Error and it should show what program is causing the problem. It also gives other errors that don't match the Event Viewer and its a lot to look at. It gave me two errors when I opened WinRAR but it has been working for a long time with no problems. I will continue to monitor for a while and maybe MS will give us a fix. I still suspect it is a bad CAB file but thats just a guess.

I read that it is a delayed problem with an update. I used the windows media solution and it worked.

I shut down the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service a while back and it didn't make any difference.

Hi what is the windows media solution and can this create more problem

I see where someone said that the Windows Media Solution worked what is this? I have already tried running install from event viewer didn't work and also disabled media sharing didn't work. What other issues can come from this error 4107 other than slow boot? I guess I'll have to wait for patch!
