    BSOD

Ok, so I started getting BSODS after me and some friends put together this new computer with all new hardware a month ago except the hard drive which is an old sata harddrive from an older computer. Eventually I received BSOD with that quite frequently, I immediatly took it to best buy where they ran test on it to tell me nothing was wrong with it. After awhile while using Google Chrome, I still received BSOD. I bought another Hard Drive, installed it, took the old one out, and reformated my computer(which is the hard drive I have in now). Everything was great until yesterday when I was messing around with my router settings (changed ip because I went into DMZ while connected to a server in Team Fortress 2). After that I left the router alone and did not get another BSOD that night, but the next following day(today) I received BSOD while scrolling through different windows with Google Chrome.

That is all that comes to mind. I put about $794 dollars in this computer without rebates (great deal) but if I can't get it to work correctly, I feel I should of just bought a tried and true named brand with a warranty.

(The previous BSOD Problem Signature 2 of 2) I do not know if you can see the problem signature from the dump file attachment, but here it is anyway.

    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.768.3
    Locale ID: 1033
    Additional information about the problem:
    BCCode: 1e
    BCP1: FFFFFFFFC0000005
    BCP2: FFFFF80002AD9539
    BCP3: 0000000000000000
    BCP4: FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
    OS Version: 6_1_7600
    Service Pack: 0_0
    Product: 768_1
Files that help describe the problem:
    C:\Windows\Minidump\071610-12464-01.dmp
    C:\Users\Coskin\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-28938-0.sysdata.xml

(update) I recently ran the latest version of Memtest and all my ram passed, any ideas on this BSOD and I might just dance at your wedding.

    Thank you!!

    Hi

Have you tried updating the hardware drivers following the new assembly?
Some of the experts on this site will have a look at your mini-dump when they are online - for now, try the basics:

    1. Update the OS via Windows Updates
    2. Update Microsoft DirectX from here
    3. Disconnect any extra hardware, apart from the keyboard and mouse, from your PC. Let it run and see if it still falls
    4. Update drivers for your hardware - mobo/add-on cards (Graphics/Sound etc.)

    Regards

    Hi, Puffins.

Well, there are many reasons why you may be experiencing BSOD errors, so let's knock out a few possibilities.

You said that you'd put this computer together yourself. Are you certain that you've physically installed the hardware correctly? And have you installed the correct drivers? Often, BSOD errors will be a result of improper driver configurations.

Would you be able to share with us, the BSOD error code? It'll be very helpful in determining the cause of these errors. If you aren't sure on how to configure your system to pause when a BSOD error happens so you can write down the code, let me know and I'll give you some instructions.

In summary, I'd check that your drivers are all up-to-date. If TF2 is having any impact, there may be an issue in regards to your graphics driver or video card. If you can, check that you've installed these correctly.

Remember, we can get to the bottom of this with as much information as possible! Best of luck.

    Thanks,
    Harvey Meale

1 windows is up to date
2 I received my direct x 10 from when I loaded the graphic driver installation CD that came with it, I guess I may need to make sure I have the most up to date version though.
    3. extra Hardware? things like mics and headphones? the monitor actually comes with usbs on it but it has a an extra connector that hooks in to a USB on the comp, does it need to be unhooked?
    4. All drivers are up to date according to windows and I have loaded everything from all the CD's I have received with the hardware.

Thank you Lomai, I will update my direct x and anything more depending on anymore directional input.

    Hi Puffins

The Monitor to USB extension is fine - you can leave that connected.

Both of these point to a memory issue. How long did you run memtest for?

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Ok I attached the results from the memtest that came back good.

When I run windows memory diagnostics it comes back with stuff; However, when I installed windows on this new hard drive it told me nothing was wrong in windows mem. diagnostics. It has to be drivers or program conflictions...I know that things fidelity...can not be that great when it reports no problems, but when I get my first BSOD...then it tells me in Windows memory diagnostics something is up.....

Ok so I reformated my computer and have not installed anything and now it passes the Windows Memory Diagnostic extended with cache enabled for which it did not before, so what is the meaning of that?

    Memtest always passed without errors.....

I did however update the bios;which, I did not before the reformat. Could this have anything to do with the BSOD before? Is there anymore information I could give you guys that could possibly help you determine what the problem is with the computer or what I am installing on this thing to make it mess up? I havent had a BSOD yet, but I haven't installed a virus protection yet. I am thinking about going to with Norton Antivirus instead of Bit defender this time. I used to get compatibility problem with bit defender, idk what this problem could be.

I have put together computers with my friend before and never have I had a BSOD...what is the deal!!!
