All that my suggestion does is stop the CAPI2 errors from showing in the summary log so that log is a lot cleaner. The CAPI2 Operational log will also give more detail on what is actually going on and if you want you can research each error but is probably a waste of time. Hopefully the next version of authrootstl will clear the errors.

Thanks Phone Man, I assume that when you refer to the summary log you are talking about Administrative Events under Custom Views?

I normally use the Summary of Administrative Events since it breaks it down by type, but it will also stop them in the view you mentioned. Since I know it won't be fixed for a while and not really causing any problems I like to keep the Errors to a minimum and from time to time I can look at the CAPI2 log and see how it is doing.
Give it a try and see if you like it better. You can always go back.

Thanks Phone Man. I see now that the summary is under Event Viewer (Local). I had been looking at Custom Views. I will try enabling the log in CAP 12 again. Thanks for your help.

i found the fix for this.
Event ID 4107 or Event ID 11 is logged in the Application log in Windows Vista, in Windows Server 2008, and in later versions of Windows and of Windows Server
i didnt do the certutil -urlcache * delete because i figured the expired cert was in a local system profile somewhere.
step 2 and all the deletions worked.
test reboot and everything up and running

Thank you Packet for posting. You say that you didn't do the "certutil -urlcache*delete. But step 2 and the deletions worked". In the link under Resolution step 2 is "certutil -urlcache*delete" So I am not quite sure what it is that you have done to resolve this problem. Could you clarify please.

Windows Updates & Activation CAPI2

Have a look at this thread. It has solved the problem for a number of us.
There should be a space before and after the *.

Thank you MJF. I will have a look at this. The trouble is I am not much of a techie and as usual I think Microsoft has let us down on this one assuming that everyone who owns a computer is a technical genius. Also thanks for pointing out the spaces and *. Also I think there is a space after certutil before the -.

Thanks for your reply.

Thanks Packet for clarifying that. When I get some time I am going to have a go at this but I am not very technical and I want to try this when I have plenty of time. Thanks for posting.

CAPI2 event ID 4107 not resolved
Can anyone advise on the status of this error. I know lots of people have been getting it since around 11 July. It doesn't appear to affect the performance of my PC but the error is persistent. Am I right in assuming it's an MS issue and they will eventually fix it?
