Okay, the first boot device is the dvd drive, I get the press any key to boot from cd/dvd, I press a key, the "Windows is loading files..." comes up, I let it continue, it makes it to screen that looks like this http://farm1.static.flickr.com/147/3...fa5cbaf0ce.jpg then the computer restarts.

Alucrid,

OK. We are making progress. Now if you just let things run. What happens?

By all means do NOT press the F8 key.

You should end up with a screen saying that wiindows is loading files.

You should get a dialog asking you to select a keyboard input method.

Push the NEXT button.

You should get a dialog with a radio button for "Use recovery tools..."

Select that radio button and push the NEXT button.

Select the very top option from the resulting dialog. This option is titled "Startup Repair".

After the startup repair ends, then shutdown you computer.

Fire the computer backup.

If still problems, then once again boot from startup repair disk and repeat the steps you went thru before.

You may have to do this 3 times before all is well.

I have a suspicion that you put some version of linux on your system and the grub boot manager has caused your problems. If this be the case, then after this is all overi post a msg asking how to install linux on a system that already has Win 7 on it.

Okay, aside from the one button pushed when it tells me to push any button to boot from the dvd/cd drive, I get the "Windows files are loading..." then I get the loading screen with Microsoft Corporation as I posted above, then it restarts. Sorry it took so long for this reply but I decided to switch video cards to see if that was the problem, it wasn't.

Also, these problems occurred before I 'tried' to install ubuntu on my slave drive, even then I wasn't able to since my computer just restarted right after.

and when it restarts, what then? Does it reboot from the DVD or what?

Yep, it reboots, asks me to press a button to boot from the dvd drive, and continues in an endless loop.

Disconnect all hard drives except for your C drive ( the one with Win7 on it).

Now we are definitely pointing to a hardware problem.

My objective here is to decrease the load on your power supply.

Take the cover off of the computer and make sure that all fans run when power is applied.

Reseat all of the memory modules.

If you get no joy from karlsnooks good advice, time do same tests, start with those two.

Check your ram.
Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Check the hard drive with the manufacturer's diagnostic tools.

Did all that, tested the graphics cards and RAM to see if any were bad, they all checked out ok.

Progress! I went ahead and reset my BIOS again and it worked. Now I'm at the system recovery options panel. I tried startup repair but it said my problem wasn't able to be fixed automatically. What else can I do?
