32 bit is outdated.

32 bit can't see more than 4GB no matter what.

Just my 2 cents.

Well, that depends:

I think that what you are saying is:
Quote:
... a processor with 32-bit memory addresses can directly access 4 GB of byte-addressable memory...
However,
32-bit - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Quote:
The external address and data buses are often wider than 32 bits but both of these are stored and manipulated internally in the processor as 32-bit quantities. For example, the Pentium Pro processor is a 32-bit machine, but the external address bus is 36 bits wide, and the external data bus is 64 bits wide.
This page is pretty boring,
but shows that 32-bit ---> 64/128 GB was supported by 32-bit releases of "Windows" (table at bottom of page):
Physical Address Extension - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Quote:
The x86 processor hardware is augmented with additional address lines used to select the additional memory, so physical address size is increased from 32 bits to 36 bits. This increases maximum physical memory size from 4 GB to 64 GB. The 32-bit size of the virtual address is not changed, so regular application software continues to use instructions with 32-bit addresses and (in a flat memory model) is limited to 4 gigabytes of virtual address space. The operating system uses page tables to map this 4 GB address space into the 64 GB of RAM, and the map is usually different for each process. In this way, the extra memory is useful even though no single regular application can access it all simultaneously.
"Page tables" ain't discussed too often -- that's an 'operating system' thing...

Not to be rude, but you yourself need to read carefully as well. While that portion of the banner is there, its totally unrelated to the deal being offered. Because in the first part there is another message listed at the bottom. The "**" mentions about how it will be shipped when it becomes available. I'm going to talk to newegg today to confirm.

It's merely a fact that due to my low post count that what i present gets discredited. its not just on this forum, any forum where a low post count member tries to present something, itll be shot down until a member who's been around says something.

and thanks for the advice but i can hold my own.

The NewEgg offer is valid and I placed an order. Since I already have licenses to Vista products, I will sell the new box and keep the Win7 upgrade license. I break even, get another Win7 license and remain compliant.

The apparent invisibility of the big orange button may have a pathology stemming from myopic cephalgia. I am only sharing my amusement that NewEgg is offering a free copy of the RC in a combo deal.

**Better hurry - while supplies last.

well your image didn't carry across to the quote, but as i mentioned in the initial post, i was unable to create a new thread in the "news" section, where i deemed it fit better than in general discussion. i clicked "new thread" and it told me i was unable to do so. i presume its due to my post count and what not and that's fine.

but anyway glad the deal is in fact as the page says. newegg doesnt disappoint

The banner offers a free copy of a free product. The Release Candidate is freely distributed by Microsoft and no "Combo Deal" is required to obtain it. Someone at NewEgg was asleep at the wheel.

There is no reference whatsoever, anywhere, pertaining to the quality of the information you linked to. Your own protestations notwithstanding, no one is discounting the value or validity of the information you presented. Actually, I posted "... the deal is real..." Perhaps I should have written something in English.

The amusement I found in a wording error is not a reflection of your worth. Only you can take that measure. Relax, have some cake. Enjoy your visit to SF.
Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!

It is in fact a combo deal. What it is essentially doing is getting you Win7 RC already on a disc for you and I'd assume as well with a license for you to use. This saves the user from having to go through the process of downloading and registering if they haven't done so already. While that doesnt apply to most of us here who are most likely ahead of the version that would be sent (i would say 7100).

So yes the RC is available for free to anyone, Neweggs offer doesn't require you to download it, you will be sent a disk.

Just wanted to provide some supporting evidence.

Hey, don't call him an IT!

And I think he's pretty ...

pretty smart ...
pretty helpful ...
pretty nice ...
pretty confusing with those dictionary words ...

PS: I should add I love Newegg combo deals. I'm using two of them right now: my i7 920 CPU + a big-a$$ air cooler (works great with OC!), and my mobo + 12GB DDR3 1600.

PPS: Welcome, LastElement0! You'll soon see we all banter around a lot but these peoiple are very nice. No stigma from low post count - we prefer quality over quantity. But they will hold you to your statements, so put then down clearly, and it's OK to screw up now and then - we all do (except Antman, maybe) ...

PPPS: I like the Fifth Element better (that's Milla for you, Antman - check the movie out, it's in my top few list!)

PPPPS: Lastelement0, do fill out your system specs if you hang around so we have some context . Cheers!

I truly did not fully understand lastelement's reaction. I thought the banner typo was funny. BTW, the ex post facto evidence is not admissable, as it is supposition.

So newegg would be charging $10 for a link to a download and a registration key? Everything on that page that I linked in my previous post of the combo deal shows that it is a RC disk.

Everything you have presented doesn't prove otherwise.

No, I think he means that you actually get the real Win 7, not the RC, which is why he actually bought the combo deal - he's agreeing with you it's a good deal . Are we reading the same posts?

I think you confused him with those big words - he hasn't learned my trick of skipping anything with more than five letters (I was going to say four but that would be awkward).

November sounds good. I do Indian & Mexican (I'm a vegetarian, and occasionally a vegetable) - Italian has too many carbs, but a possibilty . We'll argue about who pays .
