Best Buy vs Sears -- Opinions please!!
vs Newegg, couldn't edit title
I am getting a camera and I have made my choice. There are three possible locations of getting it though, I need opinions on which retailer to purchase it from any why; and any good or bad experiences would be great.
Newegg.com:
Camera Cost: 180.00 (Free Shipping)
Warrenty: 36.00 for 2-YR Service Net Day 1 Camera ADH Warranty Plan
Best Buy:
Camera Cost: 175.00
Warranty: 35.00 for 2-YR Protection Service Plan
Sears:
Camera Cost: 170.00
Warranty: 25.00 for 2-YR Master Protection Agreement

I've never ordered anything from newegg so I don't have an opinion about them.
Best Buy - I've bought things from them before - had no issues from them.
Sears - well I've lived in the North all my life and when I was young that's how Mother would dress us is by ordering from good old Sears.
It ultimately comes down to who you think would give you the best service and warranty. Will you be buying it in person, and if so is their Customer Service dept. any good? Who has the better warranty plan, then decide from there how easy it would be to return something if you had to.
Sorry I couldn't be more help!

I will be buying in person, and I'm not sure how I feel about either Best Buy or Sears customer service; just have to chose the lesser of two evils.
The problem is that I am seeing bad reviews for both companies, which is expected. But some of them are scary, such as them not honoring the warranty; but a lot of people lack common sense and only complain when something doesn't go right.
So I am just hoping to see some happy (or not so happy) customer post with their opinions.

Always had good luck with Best Buy. Bought HP camera couple of years ago with extended warranty. Camera went bad, could not be repaired, Best Buy gave me a new comparable camera.

Sears is really good about customer service in all the experience I've had with them and they seem to be the cheapest overall as well. I'd recommend them.

I absolutely LOVE newegg for computer parts, haven't ever bought a camera from them
I have however, bought a camera from Best Buy, and I could not be happier. Sort of the same as above, I bought the camera with the warranty, and 22 months into the warranty the camera stopped working. I took it into the store, they looked at it, verified that I didn't drop it or anything, and without a hitch gave me a nicer camera by the same company (mine was not in production anymore), and I walked out the door!
Would I ever go to the Geek Squad? Not a chance in you no where. BUT, their camera department (from my personal experience), was phenomenal!!
And no, I do not and have not worked for best buy lol

sears
Sears is where I do my biz
the so called local store is about 75 miles from here and is one of those mini sears
so i do my shopping via the phone, and if there is a problem i can still go to the store to see a real person

It has everything I need, and the high definition video is awesome as well. I've also played with it for quite awhile in stores, it's extremely fast and accurate with photos/focus.
So far I am thinking Sears. It's the cheaper alternative and I have also had a good experience with them in the past; I would still like more opinions though if you've got them.
And yes I agree, NEVER take anything to the geek squad. They are a huge rip off, completely overpriced. IE: They charge I think 20 dollars to determine if your iPod is faulty, in which all they can do is use the disk mode and boot options built into the iPod which takes a whole 30 seconds to do yourself.
