Thank you all so much for taking your time to give Mae Lyne and I encouragement, well wishes, and prayer support.

Other than her usual aches and pains and considering she has been in a bed for five days, she is doing well. She did walk a little bit yesterday and she walked to the shower to take a sponge bath. She still has the pic lines inserted as well as the catheter. She is able to eat soft foods; but her throat is still a little on the raw side from the forcing of that breathing tube in when her trachea had swollen shut.

We did get the word today that was a big disappointment to her. They are not going to release her from the hospital prior to her cancer surgery. She had wanted to come home for a couple of days and regroup; but that isn't going to happen. She will be transported from the hospital she is now in to the campus in Orlando where the surgery will take place. I sort of figured that was how it would shake out; but she was counting on a couple a days at home.

I am staying at the hospital with her and I am not online very much. Our plans were to spend the Labor Day weekend together and that is exactly what I intend to do even if it is in a hospital. I come home a couple of times a day to check on my dad and see if he needs anything. I am looking so forward to getting this cancer surgery over with and getting her home. That is probably two weeks away from happening. Surgery is scheduled for Thursday morning, Sep 9th.

Thank you all again for caring.

    Carl,
I kinda figured they would keep her until surgery is over with or re-schedule it within 7-10days.
You both take care as waiting can be very stressful.
Keep us posted when you can as your only concern is Mae Lyne and we will all be there with you both through this ordeal.
Take care and God Bless you all,
    Dennis and Donna

    Carl,
I remember a few years back, when I was in the hospital, that first time I got to get up and walk a little and get cleaned up made me feel much better, so I would hope the same was true for your wife.

I hope your dad is doing OK too, so that you can spend as much time with your wife as possible. Having a friendly face there helps a whole lot. Continued best wishes from up here in NYS!

Have a great weekend. Being with your wife is more important than where, although I'm sure you would rather the location be different. May all go well.

I have a GREAT news update. The docs released her to come home this evening and I brought her home around 18:00 (6:00 PM). Her case manager said that she exceeding all expectations of the speed and and extent of her recovery. She is doing fine; you can't tell she had such a close call just five days ago. It is truly a miracle.

Her cancer surgery is still on for Thursday morning. She goes to the hospital at 05:30 with surgery scheduled for 07:30. At least she gets to sleep in her own bed for three nights. :)

Thank you all for continuing support, prayers, well wishes, and positive thoughts.

That sounds absolutely fantastic. We all know how doctors are when you've had a scare like that. The fact they let her go means they have no doubt that she's doing great. I am very happy to hear this - thanks for letting us all know.

Great news! I know you are both very relieved and enjoying the short intermezzo. May the surgery goes as well.

    That is awesome, Carl.
Sleeping in her own bed, not wearing those silly hospital outfits, and eating much better food, she must be very happy to be home.

Continued best wishes this week, as you move on to the next challenge.....I suspect she'll pull through just fine, with all of us pulling for her and you.:)
