Extra prayers from Westlake, Ohio. Of course, it's not where the prayers are coming from, but where they're going to.

    God bless you both.

To all of you have posted your thoughts, poems, experiences, and offered your prayers, I thank you. It means more than I can ever express.

We received a major setback yesterday afternoon and I will be spending my weekend with Mae Lyne in ICU. Yesterday around 16:30 (4:30 PM), I went into the bedroom to wake Mae Lyne up from her nap. I found her unconscious, totally unresponsive, pinpoint pupils, turning blue, and barely breathing. Of course, I dialed 911 and started first aid by trying toclear and open her airway. The EMT's arrived and after a struggle intubated her and started the respirator.

To make a long story story short, she apparently tried to take two antihistamine tablets and one without getting it all of the way out of the plastic bubble. A piece of the plastic had lodged in her windpipe. Her windpipe swelled and cut off her air.

She is heavily sedated to keep her from pulling the myriad of tubes. When they cut back on sedative drips and she rouses, she does know me, responds to me and focuses on me. She can't talk; but she mouths I love you. She responds to questions by nodding her head appropriately. Her vitals are all good; kidney function is good.

So this, unfortunately is our weekend. I don't mind admitting it; this really got to me. But I am still optimistic if not quite so upbeat.
Thank God you were there Carl. You are both strong and will get through this!

Of course you and Mae Lyne are in my thoughts and prayers.

Carl hang in there buddy. I know you have the strength to get through this. It's also not easy, and your emotions must be on edge. Manly hug for you my friend. A Guy

You wouldn't be a decent person had it not got to you.

But I am still optimistic if not quite so upbeat.
    Keep your chin up mate.

Even when things seem the bleakest, you'll still manage to find inner strength that you didn't know you had.

And it's entirely normal not to feel as upbeat with pain, uncertainty and fear as a constant shadowy and unwelcome companion.
