Thank God you were there to take immediate care of Mae Lyne.
Your inner strength will get you both through the next couple of weeks.
We are all praying for a successful surgery next week with a full recovery..

Carl and Mae Lyne, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
That was a close call Carl and glad you were nearby. I know the surgery going through the ribs is very painful. My mom had scar tissue on her lungs years ago and had a Biopsy done. She couldn't even get out of bed for a few weeks, someone would have to carry her out.
Just stay strong and you will get through it.. Its hard at times, but keep the faith.

I wish you all the best in Mae Lyne's recovery.

Wow, this thread was a shocker to find and read through! This is the first I've seen it, the last few days I was just checking my subscribed threads.

I'm not one that prays, like someone else said earlier in the thread, but I certainly wish the best to Mae Lyne and you, Carl. Judging from the kind of guy you are, she must be a special lady, so I hope she recovers quickly.:)

I am back to being my upbeat, optimistic self. I have good news to report. Mae Lyne has survived this setback. Early this morning, they started taking her off the meds that were deliberately keeping her sleeping. As she began to wake up, they started drawing down the ventilator to let her breathe on her own. By 09:00 she was breathing fine on her on. But they left the breathing tube in place just in case. All vitals were good and blood O2 was 99. Around 13:00 (1:00 PM), they pulled the breathing tube and she could finally talk. She was a little hoarse; but not bad. She is fully alert, laughing and crabbing about being in a hospital - a very good sign. I see no signs of brain damage and the various tests show no signs of damage to her organs from oxygen deprivation. That was a big concern of mine and the medical staff.

She will remain in ICU tonight and, if all goes well, be moved to a room tomorrow. We still don't know if this changes her cancer surgery scheduled for Thursday morning.

With all that is within me, I thank everyone of you for your caring, your support, your encouragement and your prayers. We will get through this whole ordeal and she will kick the big C. I will spend the night with her in her ICU room.
