Sorta'...Lou Reed wrote it, but I like Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels version much better. All the classic rock stations here in Ohio [home of the Rock-N-Roll hall of fame] play this version. Give it a listen, it rocks....

He came on a summer's day
    Bringin' gifts from far away
But he made it clear he couldn't stay
    No harbor was his home
Your right, that is an easy one. Looking Glass - Brandy [Your a fine girl]

I like Lou Reed's version too, but I'm in Ohio about 20 minutes from Detroit, so Mitch is kinda' a home grown boy. Anyway, you should be able to get this one if your into classic rock...

Waiting for the winds of change
    To sweep the clouds away
    Waiting for the rainbow's end
To cast its gold your way
    Countless ways
    You pass the days

    Waiting for someone to call
    And turn your world around
    Looking for an answer
To the question you have found
    Looking for
    An open door

    Well I reckon it's this:

    Ok. How about this:

The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!

    John ,
LOIS says its led Zeppelin, immigrant song

    this is lois's turn.

And you see a girl's brown body dancing through the turquoise,
And her footprints make you follow where the sky loves the sea.
And when your fingers find her, she drowns you in her body,
Carving deep blue ripples in the tissues of your mind.

Lois is right and her's is:

    Here's a good one:

And each time I hear your name,
    (Frying pan, frying pan)
OH, oh, oh darling, how it, how it hurts.
    (He's in pain)
In the wardrobe of my soul,
    (Of my soul)
    In the section labelled 'Shirts'.

Ok. here's something much less obscure.Fairly recent. US female superstar:

Got me hoping you'll page me right now, your kiss
    (Hey)
Got me hoping you'll save me right now

@Thorsten. I just posted some more Bonzos in "What Are You Listening To?". True strangeness

Beyonce - Crazy in Love... I am a guy and I probably shouldn't have gotten that one :)

    For the next poster:

I could use a dream or a genie or a wish
To go back to a place much simpler than this
Cause after all the partyin' and smashin' and crashin'
And all the glitz and the glam and the fashion
And all the pandemonium and all the madness
There comes a time where you fade to the blackness
