    Well just using the old 18 month rule of Moore's Law the computer will be approximately 73,786,976,294,838,206,464 times more powerful

    I don't think any of us can even imagine what that sort of power will allow, unless it's already happened and we're all living in a computer generated construct

    Yeah that would suck if we're in a real-life Matrix.

    But in the not-too-distant future Moore's Law won't be applicable. Over the years, the width of the laser beam that engraves chips has gotten smaller and smaller - except now we're about at the limit of that smallness. Someone's going to have to invent a way to make smaller beams, or come up with an alternative to CPU-making as we know it.

    Not sure how long that inventing/testing period will last. Just wondering if there's going to be some kind of long-term holding pattern for PCs until they're totally revamped, while all the fanciest tech stuff goes to things like the iPhone or Wii or whatever smaller device that isn't a PC?
