    Future of the PC

So what's the computer going to be like in 100 years? Anyone got any cool futurist-kinda sites that talk about this stuff?

Sorry, I don't have any sites but needless to say computers a 100 years from now will be like comparing our current high-end rigs to an abacus.

I'd love to see what they have in the future, but unfortunately we'll all be dead, so it's rather a moot point

It's pretty tough to predict, although I'm certain that quantum computing and bio-storage will be readily available. Storing 1TB on a grain of salt, not a problem. Real time, faster than light computing? Hard to fathom but it's coming.

In 100 years there saying the world is going to go into depression again because oil will run out and then we need to find a way to replace it..

But it would be good to see some good pictures

    In a hundred years?

Very good possibility that we will be experiencing the worlds first nuclear winter by then.........................................................

    So probably not anything ridiculous.

As to quantum computing, well...... That is indeed coming, but not in 100 years. We know less than nothing about quantum mechanics, and quantum computing to us now is like trying to explain calculus to a newborn dog....

100 years... a free clean glass of water would be nice.

Who knows, maybe we'll be implanted with them and it will be projected within our vision. No keyboards, mouse, monitors, nothing but our minds
...then again our minds are super computers anyway, so maybe we'll just learn to use them to there potential.

Yes they do have that. It plugs directly into your brain. But the technology is rudimentary at best: The guy testing it tried to draw a circle, and it looked about like a rectangle with a crazy side....
