    Legal Uses of Torrents

With all the negative attention given to this technology about the piracy concerns, etc. I just thought it'd be nice to focus on the more positive things. I personally use it to download big Linux ISOs which for me ends up being at least twice as fast as HTTP. I try to use torrent sites which display info about how many people are seeding and leeching and try to find a Linux download with a lot of seeds. I've had quite a bit of success with this. I just hope that ACTA doesn't ruin peer-to-peer because people like me use it for what the technology should be used for. I don't care if my ISP monitors my activity, but if they start blocking ports, I'm going to be rather upset.

I personally prefer FTP over HTTP as well; however, I try to stay away from Torrent sites. Because yeah, you'll be watched by going on them. I don't like being watched, lol. If I want to obtain a Linux OS, I'll scour google until I find one that I like. I generally stick to filehosting sites such as Rapidshare, Hotfile, MegaUpload, etc. for finding what I need. :) For uploading stuff myself, I use mediafire.

You will not necessary be "watched" if you go to them, well anymore than you already are. Lets face it, the gov is pushing for a central hub for all internet activity. They are already monitoring us and just want a way to make it easier. We all know there is a list of words not to say on the phone, the internet is very similar to that.

In regards to the Original topic though:
There is a movie producer that is actually releases a torrent only movie sometime this month.
Large open source files, (Linux distros.)
Easy transfer of non-classified documents if having multiple receivers.(Given you have a Private Tracker)

You will not be watched as long as the torrent itself isn't watched. The ones that are watched are the ones that break a "few" agreements. That simple.
