the closing youtube tag needs a / - as in all good xml -

so if the youtube url is
    youtube.com/watch?v=D9Xju1Wavoc
    then you need
    [Utube]D9Xju1Wavoc[/Utube]
i've used [Utube] and [/Utube] here, but you need [youtube] and [/you...]

i had to type Utube otherwise the forum insisted on putting the video here, rather than the code - even though i tried using [code] tags

If you don't want something to parse for an example like that, then just use the noparse bbcode.

noparse noparse, with the brackets and the / on the end one of course.

The [code] tag switches to a fixed-width (monospace) font and preserves all spacing.

The [noparse] tag allows you to stop the parsing of BB code.

For keeping the spacing of whatever code you put in.
