Desktop definitely just generally more powerful and more comfortable.

I'm more comfortable with a desktop, and like it better, but I loved my laptop until it pooped itself to death.

Desktop because it can be easily built/upgraded/maintained and have a choice of using different size/brand Monitor or TV

I prefer desktops. They are much faster, quicker hard drives and far more upgradable. While I like having a laptop around, you pretty much have to buy those retail so you don't have much ability to really customize them. So, while I own a laptop....it's just another computer. My Desktop on the other hand is my creation and it's exactly what I want.

I prefer both and use them daily, weekly, monthly and year around. Hope you can add "both" to your poll. GL :)

Should be a choice to choose both as the have very different piratical applications.
I prefer my Desktop but can't take it with me on a plane or anywhere else I would go and want to use a computer.
I'm aware you can use a smart phone although I don't own one but.

last year I snuck out of California and went to Texas to help my brother get his construction business setup after Hurricane Ike.

This included all his office computers and he designed a stand for his laptop to be installed in his truck to sit his laptop on and by using a converter plugged into his lighter socket I showed him how he could use it to get into the office systems using Go to my PC and a Verizon air card to actually create estimates.
Since the converter had 2 plug in sockets and a cooling fan he could also hook up a small printer and print out documents that either he created or where created at the office.

But definitely the Desktop as I often find myself frustrated waiting for the laptop to boot up or load pages, the one I have (old HP DV4000) and even my Mom's Gateway with Vista are just to slow for my taste.

I'm a laptop user, but that's mainly because of a lack of space + need for portability...
