It's funny how much of a division this topic can create it's on par with politics...I feel..."I feel" we all benefit by having a choice to push the competitive spirit and technologies. AMD is good and Intel is good, I'm a AMD man and you may be an Intel person. It's all good as long as they both push the envelope ! Affordable speed and reliability it's amazing how far we've come in such a short time and the future is going to be staggering....can't wait !

Everything has it's own fan club.

AMD vs Intel
PC vs Mac
Holden vs Ford (in australia at least)

For me it's
Intel
PC
Ford

The important thing IMO is not who is best between Intel and AMD but that there are both Intel and AMD.

The competition between the two is what drives them both to improve their product which benefits us all

Having used both over the years, price point still draws me to AMD.

Oh, I know, haha, I was talking to DirtyElf. In the mean time, I am very pleased with my recent processor purchase of the Athlon II X3 Rana

Got burned once with a bad Cyrix (a bargain buy which I regretted) and underwhelmed by a mediocre AMD (admittedly my fault for not doing proper research). Nothing but Intel for me now. After all it's my own money I'm spending, I don't want to second-guess myself later. Not to say I hadn't built my share of Intel-based rigs I ended up not liking (hello P4 Prescott, perpetually >60C) but I like the ability to say "no, the CPU isn't the bottleneck here".
