The worst was when I was at my fiancée's orientation for her culinary school, which is part of the Art Institute. This guy gets up, who has a DOCTORATE, and starts babbling, every other freaking word was "like."

"Like, you can't just graduate from school, and like, expect to like, have a job just like handed to you. Like, you have to work hard, and like network with people when you are here. Like, talk to people, make like connections..."

I really just wanted to punch him.

I hate language pollution. If you can't talk right, please just shut up. That's just my thought though.

I'm very certain you mean can not.

As in, you can not communicate properly through spoken medium. :P

If I recall correctly, cannot is used situations where you are unable to completely, as in, there is no way to can.

I cannot know who the guests are that are viewing this topic. Can not is when, under different circumstances, you can, like when someone can not speak correctly.

But it's really not here nor there, as my intended joke was received
