What's wrong with MSE competitors?

Antitrust case against Microsoft over AV would be 'long shot,' says expert - Computerworld

Wouldn't it be better for the to compete and trash MSE in terms of quality then? Show the customers what's the best suite to protect the system from malware instead of doing radical approach everytime they're threatened from competition.

Jealousy much?

A lawsuit very similar was filed by Netscape when MS started putting Internet Explorer on their OS. How many people use Netscape now? Next to none is the answer. That is what the latest lawsuit is about.

By having the installed desktop base as they do, MS when they include specific type software, can render many third parties as irrelevant....even when the third parties have a much better product.

True, but it's coming down as an automatic update.....thus to third parties it's almost equivalent to being bundled and they aren't happy about it.

If most people weren't so ignorant/careless and didn't leave their machines unprotected, we wouldn't have seen so many malware issues and MSE wouldn't have to be pushed as an update (and an optional one at that). MS is damned if they do, damned if they don't.

On the other hand, I see no harm in MS putting up a browser-style ballot selection - even if the browser one hasn't really done squat.

Automatic? It is never installed automatically. Users must decide to install it.

There's still the freedom of choice here. Microsoft isn't force feeding anyone to use their product.

That said, since using MSE I've had no need to shell out $30-50 bucks a year. That's what these competitors are crying about

You just got to love capitalism

And oh BTW.... MSE just happens to get the job done.... just like the pay for versions

Help! I did something wrong!
OK, right now I'm using the Ubuntu half of my computer, as, well... it's the only one that works. Here's what happened. I've been fed up with the Ribbon interface on Wordpad and Paint for a while, so I got a 64-bit copy of Vista and copied the EXEs and system files from it. Obviously, Windows...
