    "Do Not Track" Tool

The headlines in the business section of the paper this morning is "Do Not Track Tool Suggested for Web". It says "Federal Regulators (U.S.) are proposing to create a 'Do Not Track' tool for the internet so that consumers could prevent marketers from tracking their web browsing habits and other behavior in order to target advertising". If you disable cookies, wouldn't this do the same thing?

    Not from the almighty google...

Seriously though, disabling cookies can cause headaches for frequently visited sites. (login details etc)

Then there's Flash Cookies, and about 8 other ways to track without using any types of cookies at all!
