    Tv Help! Black Streak

I know this has nothing to do about windows 7 but this forum is by the far the best I have ever used. My parents lcd tv is a about 3-4 years old. It is a sharp aquous. Within the last 6 months it is getting a dark streak right down the middle it is a line line but it is incredibly noticable. The tv's have had more than its fair share of use. Sometimes on for a day straight when my brother falls asleep playing xbox. Is there a way to reverse this dark streak or would a new part have to be installed? thanks!

This problem is common in Sharp Aquos LCD TVs and is called 'vertical banding'. It is caused by screen burn if you frequently leave the same screen on for 2 hours or more.

Is it still under guarantee? If so get in touch with the guarantee provider. If not there are 2 solutions:

    1) Buy a new TV and don't leave it on the same screen for hours!

    2) Find out the model number and search Google for a new T-CON board. The T-CON (Timing Control or LCD Controller) board is on the LCD panel. This is the interface board that talks to the Logic board and the LCD panel to produce pictures on the screen. Either fit it yourself (see Google for help) or ask your local TV guy if he will do it.

Hmmm I'm almost positive the warranties over. Also its not there when the tv's just turned on it takes awhile and about after 2 -3 hours its literally like the screen split in two. Still think its the t-con board?

What happens if you change the aspect ratio?

Hello, I am a TV tech 18+ years. I doubt it will be the Tcon (Lcd control on Sharps). I hate to say it, but 95% or better it's the panel. And if that's the case, then a new TV will be cheaper than a repair. Is it possible to post some pictures? With video, with a solid blue screen if possible, and with the TV's menu pulled up. A Guy
