Copy the video ID from YouTube URL, the part highlighted in here:

Today [6]-youtube_02.png

Sometimes the URL contains embedding or other extra information, then you copy the part between v= and &:

Today [6]-youtube_01.png

Then that code in between YouTube tags: [youtube]muEjJsHWc-s[/youtube]

this is thanks to John galt on the youtube dump

Kari, et al - to post you tube videos here, it's easy. Just go to any You tube video that you want to post.

You see a URL in your browser address bar like so:

Code:
YouTube - Girl Eats Shamu?! (8.6.09 - Day 98)
Copy the part between Code:
watch?v=
and Code:
&feature=popular
or Code:
&hl
- basically that funcky 6-11 character string

Now, simply use the system's built in Code:
[youtube ] & [/youtube ]
codes with that string in the middle, like so:

Code:
[ youtube]i3AeYR3kbQk[/youtube ]
Warning
The code above has two extra spaces in it so you can see it in the code bracket - remove both of those extra spaces!!!

You messed up try again

Thank Pebbly. When I tried to embed that video I thought to myself, "I'm sure there used to be a You Tube icon on the Edit toolbar. There is, of course, but I wonder why it does not appear on just this one post of mine?
Here's a screenshot of what I get

i've noticed that too mitchell, the icons you get are different depending if you're in the 'quick-reply' box, or if you 'go advanced', then they are different again if you go back and edit a post.

Hello John, here's the instructions I've saved for when people in the What are you listening to? need to know how:

Get the address to the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muEjJsHWc-s , and copy the part after v= only muEjJsHWc-s

Click on the youtube logo in the menu above as you are posting that will give you this

[YOUTUBE][/YOUTUBE]

Now paste the part after v= from above muEjJsHWc-s in between the youtube tags and you'll see this

[YOUTUBE]muEjJsHWc-s[/YOUTUBE]

Now your post will show the video

If the address has more after the code, for instance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4eV1QFR6HQ&feature=related, then only copy the part between the v= and the & symbol

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4eV1QFR6HQ&feature=related

If you run the video for a couple of minutes you will see a lady waving to me whilst I was filming - I can give an absolute guarantee that she is definitely all woman!
