Life is best when you are surprised, when small and nice coincidences happen.

Angie sent me to buy some coffee, milk and bread earlier today. Because I like driving and had nothing else to do, I drove to neighbor town Halle, some half an hour away. When getting out of the car in supermarket's huge parking lot, I noticed I had parked next to our neighbor. But not any neighbor, not from here in Leipzig. We have a second home 500 kilometer away from here, in western Germany in a small town called Solingen. Because of my condition we have not been there so much lately, but our dear next door neighbor (this one!) has keys and looks after the place.

Went to market looking for him, when my phone rings. He's calling, telling me he is in a short notice working trip in eastern Germany and is currently very close to Leipzig, and was wondering if he could drop by later. I started to laugh and told him to turn around; I had just seen him in the supermarket talking to me on his phone. He bought some flowers to Angie and waited me to do my shopping, then he followed me home.

I mean, what is the probability that a neighbor of ours from 500 kilometers away, a person who visits these parts of the country (his own words) maximum once a year must suddenly come here, and when he stops to call us to tell he is close by and asks if he can drop by later, I park next to his car in the parking lot of a supermarket and answer his call standing not 20 meter from him?

Took a photo directly after realizing I had parked next to him, thinking Angie would never believe me without a proof. This neighbor and his wife are very dear friends of ours, so luckily I did not need my "photo proof" but instead could see Angie's amazed but happy gaze when she noticed who I brought with me.

(Quite dirty Solingen plated (SG) Audi is his, even dirtier Leipzig plated (L) Mazda ours.)

I really like this kind of surprises! Shows how small the world is and that almost everything is possible.

Yeah. He left already back to Solingen. I can't stop thinking the odds for something like this to happen. I mean, the distance between us is 500 kilometers. I normally never go to this supermarket, but today was a nice weather and I decided to drive a bit longer to do my shopping, because there's no speed limit on the autobahn I used and I could enjoy the speed at least a short moment. He almost never comes to these parts of the country, and when he now came he chose the same supermarket to buy flowers to my wife. We parked next to each other, and he calls me as soon as I have parked and am standing almost next to him.

I need to play Lotto this week!

That was a wonderful surprise for you Kari, although I must say he didn't do a very good job of parking.

That's a rather American-style parking job.....lol. There's a whole lot of people here that shouldn't be allowed to drive....at least in the wintertime.
