Hi Julian
You must do whatever you think best but in my 70 plus years I have learnt that "kneejerk" decisions are rarely the right ones in the end. I will be sorry to see you go if you really feel you must.
Regards as ever

Julian, I sincerely hope you did not end your SF career because of my words. What I wrote was written to my friend Boohbah, from my heart and as I mentioned it was simply and only my personal opinion, written and meant to be taken very positively.

Arc, thank you for you nice words, although I do not feel very perceptive right now, thinking that I might have once again opened my mouth wrong time in a wrong place thus causing a dear fellow member to end his membership

I totally agree with Mitch on the kneejerk reaction. They are generally the wrong choices and I think you are making the wrong choice. Just chill out for some time and return when feel up to it.
However, if you choose to leave, I wish you the very best of health and happiness.

I don't think your words had a detrimental effect on Julian, his mind was made up before your post. I can't see that you have anything to feel guilty about. Perhaps Julian will think again over the next few days an come back. I have his email address as we met up last year (we live only 20 miles or so apart) and will contact him for a cup of coffee when I am next visiting his hometown.

MY LIVING WILL:

Last night, my kids stopped by and were sitting in the living room and I said to them, 'I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and fluids from a bottle. If that ever happens, just pull the plug.'

They got up, unplugged the Computer, and threw out my wine.

They are SO on my shit list ...
