Adding my vote for a return, take some time for yourself, then do come back.

We'll all be looking forward to your return.

My mother-in-law, Mutti, has kept us busy since yesterday morning. We bought her to emergency room yesterday, but finally found out it's just old age and some minor problems which didn't require staying in hospital.

However, she is more and more unable to live alone. It's more or less a stalemate: She wants to live at home, we accept that and can only offer our help and support. The best solution in my opinion would be if Mutti moved to us, which we have continuously, repeatedly asked her to do. But her will is strong and there's not very much we can do other than respect her wish. "Ich will in meinem eigenen Heim sterben", in English "I want to die in my own home". Luckily we live very near.

So, after a long day in emergency unit we stayed in her place until the day nurse came this morning, splitting night in two so one of us was awake all the time. Today we've decided that although not so good for our married life, Angie sleeps from now on there, me giving her a night alone at home once or twice a week.

It can also mean a bit less online time for me a week or two now, until we can find a permanent solution.

Hope your "Mutti" lives a long, happy and healthy life and gives you and your lady sufficient "married life" time, Kari.
Can't say i blame her for wanting to be in her own home. It is her castle.

I hope your mum in law is getting better.

It must be time for sick Mom-in-laws.

Eileen and I got a call last night about 7:30 PM and Eileen's mom is in the hospital with bad pneumonia.
Spent several hours at the hospital.
Heading back this morning in a while.
I'm up but Eileen worked all day then the run to the hospital.
Didn't have dinner until 10 PM.
Eileen is exhausted.

ER doctor said you can drown on a teaspoon of water. It is possible.
They aspirated 3 ounces from her right lung.

Not a good sign. Erratic heart beat etc. Unresponsive to stimulus.
Doing the antibiotics and breathing treatment trying to break it up but they aren't going to go to extreme measures.
Her request in the past.
She had already signed a DNR when she was of mind to do so.

If it isn't one thing it is another.
Getting a little rough on the family after the passing of Rodney a couple of weeks ago.

Same here.

Sometimes I feel I'm the greatest, most egoistic a**hole ever seen, for I can not help it but I find myself every now and then thinking about how much better it would be for all of us is she just agreed to move in with us. Then I realize that I understand her. In the same situation, I think I would also like to stay in my own home.
