I've had a license 32 years now, but am currently unable to drive. Angie got her 18th point late November (stupid German speeding ticket system), meaning she has to give her license away for 4 weeks and do 10 theory lessons during that time to get it back. Luckily the judge granted us some time due to my health situation, Angie can drop her license to police station when she wants, latest 31st of March, to start her 4 week no-drive period. We believe I'm able to drive before that so everything should be OK; if not, we are screwed. We really need car because my mother-in-law.

Although lois and i were discussing only the other day about starting lessons.
One of you certainly should, you would be surprised just how much you are missing out.
yeah , its certainly about time ,though they say having a car is like having another mouth to feed so that itself has been a factor in the delay as we have six mouths to feed already!.
may end up with a trabant !

It all depends on the car, the Corsa 1.3 diesel I have is £30 per year road tax, £330 fully comp insurance and does about 50-60 MPG so it isn't really that expensive.

Yes you have to have your wits about you to drive round here, especially when the holiday makers are on the road site seeing or not knowing where they're going

Trying driving in California where they are texting, eating their lunch, putting eyeliner on, or changing their clothes at 70 MPH bumper to bumper!!!

in cornwall the cornish have walls hidden in the roadsides that are overgrown with plants etc so the tourists think its ok to swerve into them when they drive too fast on the tiny lanes that are one car wide, only to get a surprise ,ouch!

Sounds about right, a lot of those kind of roads around here with lots of bends so you never know what's coming up next and plenty of ditches at the sides as well.

@ Dennis, the thing is I expect the roads in California are wide and straight not little lanes that struggle to be wide enough to manage two cars passing on some of them.
