CM is great ! For my phone there are a lot of great custom roms with CM6/7.
The best way to find out is to try it.. :)

Finally installed CyanogenMod 7. Just love it. Its in RC stage but still no bugs so far.

Can you enlighten me, what do you mean when you mention, rom, what is it ?

ROM - The name given to software on embedded devices (mobile phones, for the most part). "Flashing" a ROM means that you install that software on your device.

Joan, basically, its like installing a different OS on the phone. For ex: your PC came originally with Windows Vista but you formatted it and installed Ubuntu.

Thanks for that Dinesh I'll have a look there and I do believe that is the name that a friend told me to look at for upgrading my phone, but I couldn't remember the name.
