The shoe looks great ..I HATE those ridge bottoms , they will drag hunks of dirt/earth inside and drop off making a huge mess inside the house.
That youthful guy with the big leather bag..( that's a great looking bag ) looked like his suit was much to small short.. bad tailoring , if any at all... all in all that wasn't my kind of guy dressing..maybe very young business men ... but NOT in the USA.
Not sure about Doc Martin's ?, never had any but these are boots !!!

Here's the bag.. it's Taupe color / Snake print leather / Sterling silver hardware
it's a bigger bag.. I'm quite tall 5'10" but thin..so this is perfect for me.

At home I relax barefoot in an undershirt and a sarong. Very light, very comfortable here in the tropical heat. Undies optionalI tell ya, it doesn't get much better than this. I tried walking around starkers in the house once, but between that vague disquieting feeling of "if a guest shows up I'm screwed" and bugs/mosquitoes able to get at the most uncomfortable places, being clothed is decidedly better.
If I need to step out of the house I put on a pair of slacks and throw on a shirt (plain pastel colour, unlined - I don't like patterns). Simple black bata shoes, nondescript, gets the job done. Me, fashion? Nah. Just your average blend-into-the-crowd joe. Sure, I got a couple of "showy" clothes, but those are for the occasional unavoidable social obligation.
When I was about 6 or 7 years old, I needed some new dress shoes. Mom let me make some suggestions. I ended up with shoes with the deep ridge like above. The actual name of the type of shoe was "Mud Grips". Of course shortly after I got them I had to make sure they "gripped the mud". Like you said Lady Pink, that mud is really a job to get out. :)
That's why they make "boot scrapers":
Gotta keep the ladies happy! :)
They were called Rollers (Brand name) back in their early 90's revival. Damn awesome shoes. I keep waiting for their 'fashionable return'.
Unless they are cool with the 'metros'...
The ridged soles were easy to clean. After traipsing everywhere with gunk in them, you merely waited until the gunk had dried then simply bashed them on the ground, adding to the mess![]()
