That is a Bates Stamper, and it is used primarily in the legal profession.

Bates stamping (aka Bates coding, numbering and embossing) is a lawyer's convention used in litigation to uniquely emboss pages of discovery documents to allow for specific identification. Bates numbers are usually placed on the lower right portion of each page of a document, in the form of a leading alphabetic identifier followed by sequential numbers from four to six digits, including leading zeros. An example would be MPW 00576. Bates numbering allows attorneys to specifically identify pages prior to trial in depositions and for legal motions. Once a case goes to trial exhibit numbering is usually used instead of Bates embossing.

Well, it looked like a stamper of sorts and I could hazzard a guess at the word 'Bates', so I just Googled for 'Bates Stamper'. You could have made it a bit harder by blanking out that red panel on the front.

Anyhow, try this one:

A little bit harder this time, since I'm only showing a part of it.
