Quite a big part of the members now are IMO a bit more advanced users. If the members we have today have found Win7 interesting enough to join the SevenForums, had some issues like migrating from XP, new features, removed features etc. and have been looking a place where they can find answers thus finding here, think what it is when the Seven is officially out and hits the public.
Like Antman said, the new users just need a small issue, question or piece of information to start googling or binging it and find almost always at least one SevenForums entry among the first 10 search results.
I would be very surprised if we didn't see an exponential growth. The SevenForums is, as we all know, the Ultimate Windows 7 Resource of the Internet.

Microsoft might believe they are the "Ultimate Windows 7 Resource" but what do they know? :)
Growth in users? Sure - we peaked at 4502 yesterday, probably will see about the same over the next week.
Exponential growth? Not clear to me that this will happen. A lot of the people who ordered Win7 had or got the RC and have been playing with it, and we have seen them here already. Same for the MSDN and MSDNAA people - they are here now. I don't think that will leave a 10x number of folks thundering in on the 22nd - 23rd.
We shall see. (I'm using Windows 7 as an excuse to take Friday off, just in case.)
I'm expecting a sh*t load of new users... When you live in the Hinterlands, you must learn to speak in the vernacular of the indigenous population....
I have been traveling (regards from Milwaukee today).
When did we reach 30k members (shows 30095 for the newest now)?
No Admins! only one Mod. last night I think Tews was the highest ranking person online. the calm before the storm
