I think a good mix between senile and not so senile people makes for a good knowledge base considering the general scope of this forum.

Guess I qualify for the senile group. But, I do have a lucid moment occasionally, not real often but on accasion.

So what should the 36-40 group be called? We're not young, but not old....and I don't know what range is covered by "middle-aged"

noobvious: isn't there such a thing as a "lost generation"...

But seriously, look at the oldtimers (above 50) they have seen it all and are still "young enough" to take in new stuff. Sometimes I wish I was a little older and had lived in an IT intensive environment all of my life. The "young punks" today get W7 and soon W8 served on a silver plate with none or little experience of the shitloads of W98 and WXP BSOD's we elders went through.

I'm not 50+, not even 40+ and I did use Windows 3.1 and DOS for quite a number of years before switching to Windows2000 which I used for a long time even when Win95 was released.

FORTRAN and COBOL rule!

My high school had an on site computer before 1970.
A very rare occurrence for a high school.
They offered classes in FORTRAN and COBOL programing.

I didn't want programing classes.
I wanted to learn to take it apart and reassemble.
Needless to say I was not allowed near the computer room or the basement where it was kept.
They would not even let me see the computer.
My formative years in computer hardware was thus thwarted by administrative oppression.

My dreams dashed by UAC even back then.

As the original thread didn't have a very good split on age groups I thought I'd remake it with a better spread. Original Thread - https://www.sevenforums.com/chillout-room/139563-age-category-do-you-fall.html

Is this a sign that HDD prices are about to fall?
I've noticed on Newegg that they've increased the limits on the amount of drives that you can buy. I've seen 3, 5, 10, 20 and 100 drive limits, today. Even the 20 packs are back. If they have so many drives in stock, then why are prices still so high? Price gouging, perhaps? Something...
