    About all you get free is the winter heating allowance when you are 60.

    You can also get a bus pass at 65.

    If you are male in the US and turn 50 you get a Colonoscopy.

    It ain't free, though. Trust me, even if it's covered by insurance you still pay for it.

    I wish I got a bus pass at 60 and the Winter Fuel allowance oh and I get free prescriptions. Hubby gets free prescriptions as well, even though he's not at the retirement age, but he's diabetic so that counts.

    You get a free eye test and help with the cost of glasses, but it still costs a fortune for a pair, you can get free dental work as well, that's if you can find a NHS dentist but they are very few and far between.

    Sorry but it's not worth getting old for the free stuff.

More here... Honestly, I think that ChromeOS is more of a threat to Linux than to Microsoft in the netbook market. Although, Windows 7 Starter is horrid, so I can see MS taking a hit as well.
Laptop won't fall asleep

I have finally found how to keep my computer from spontaneously waking up, and am trying now to get it to fall asleep at the appointed time. Have done all the power option settings, including allowing the computer to sleep under multimedia settings/when sharing media. When entering powercfg...
