Our Walmart that we go to is a friendly and a good store. See a lot of people I know and stop to visit. I guess it depends on what part of the country you live in. As we call it around here Wally World.

We are also in Florida and have 3 Walmarts in our small county. One of them is a franchise - which I did not know that this form even existed. There is a Sam's Club in addition which I prefer by far. Much more pleasant to shop there. The rest we get in the Publix supermarket across the street or in the Super-Target (also across the street). I dread Walmart.

Only stepped in to one Wally Mart over 20 years ago in Oregon and I vowed never to go back. I slipped once while on business in Denver and had to find barrels of Red Vines which I used to give out to clients but both experiences totally creep'd me out. To each his own but other than Costco I do try to support local Mom and Pop stores as much as is practical. These warehouse stores are bringing down prices at the cost of competition.

You miss being around a bunch of low-lives. That seems to be their preferred hang-out. It is interesting to just sit at the entrance studying the people going in and out. The width of half of the females is measured in meters, not centimeters.

There are 3 24 hour large supercenter Walmarts in a ten mile or less stretch here in the Killeen area, then two more if one drives several miles further to Temple/Belton.

What I don't buy on-line I tend to buy from Walmart. Even the commissary can't touch the grocery prices. I buy all my Jeans there--ties too--coz let's face it, even at my salary, I dont want to buy a 120$ tie straight from Thailand or Italy, and Walmarts 12$ silk ties or as good as the mall department store's 25$ ones.

Occasionally a Blu ray since I don't buy that many.

Otherwise I like Amazon.com, Newegg, and the on-line bike shops.

BUT really I do hate Walmart for one reason--crowded. That is why I only go maybe once every other month.

    This.

Some of the smaller places round here were just better. although no longer around.

While Walmart may have adavantages, its also killing the smaller business.
And I don't think thats a good thing either.
