Excuse me, ah Mitch I believe Mickey is correct, ducks can speak they just don't have much to say. Seriously, get drunk and try to strick (or strike, you're choice) up a conversation with one, they talk and light your smoke and bring you fries. Just don't say the word "pressed" around them.
And I think that contraption has something to do with mapping stars, but then I talk to ducks.

you can't just 'strike up' a conversation with a duck, you would frighten it.

you have to strick them. i thought a cornwall country boy would know that...

maybe that's why you think ducks can't speak - you've been trying to strike them!
