It has a vertical plate on one end as if to pull it back which would increase pressure on the spring. You would then release the bolt and the front part of the bolt extends past the block. A P.S. to Doc, it is screwed to the rectangular block so I believe it is all one piece. Is it used to test the breaking capacity of something?
Also, as you pull the bolt back, does the end with the spring have gradations on it so you can measure the amount of pressure?

It IS an egg! Oh wait, did you say egg? No.
No one would ever get it, and I'd be holding up the thread since I'm busy just now so I will tell you, and John, or someone can put one up. This is an old version, but it's used to...
test which will hit the ground first ... a dropped ball or a ball thrown horizontally. Lol, see, no one would have gotten it.
