Who said the nest would actually be named "8" to start with? So far MS hasn't even announced the actual pricing for 7 quite yet. Anyone seen any code names for what is to follow 7 lately?

"stay tuned for scenes from what comes after 7!" I think once there's some confirmation from MS on just what the next version will be called someone will be busy getting the next forum going at that time!

In the meantime we''ll have to see that the Vista and seven forums are placed on the whitelist so they won't be mistaken for any of that.. that aweful stuff!

(spam on ISPs? Just get one of their free email accounts and they will provide that for you! )
Eh true, I wasn't trying to imply that it would be labeled Windows 8, it was just the only easy way to refer to it as.

it must have a code name, we will come to know in some days or months.
i can say that microsoft is too busy with windows 7. but it would have been better to get a leaked copy of next windows after 7 to play with.

I didn't say you were. We are all going to be waiting to see what MS decides on for that. I somehow doubt it would be called Vienna!

In the meantime a new forum could simply go by the "WhatNext Forums" until we know for sure! "Here we discuss code name "?" until...?". That would probably go over like a lead balloon however.

Thats the supposed 'cloud Windows' thing.

I haven't read much about Midori but from what I can tell many refer to it as 'Linux with Windows Logo'.

Seeing as how more people already like the RC of Windows 7 than liked the public release of Vista, I agree... let's wait out the next few years of service packs on Win 7 before even thinking about whatever it is that follows next... My mind can't even comprehend all we'll go through until then... And seeing as how, to my last count, this version should be called Windows 16 instead of 7, (...at the very least, Windows 10, and that's NOT counting Bob...), maybe they won't have a number on it at all. Maybe it'll be the Microsoft Windows-The Stock Needs a Quick Boost Edition.
