Well actually, the job was to put in those steel pillars to stop any vehicle from crashing into their front window. :)

No, they took precise measurements of the width of the truck, and the space between the two posts behind the truck. They then backed the truck up only to find the mirrors don't clear the posts and they don't fold out of the way. They then decided the best way out was straight ahead through the glass.
