    external HD on ps3

Hey so basically, i know that the drive has to be fat32 to work on a ps3.
I couldnt get my whole 500gb external to format into fat32.. due to the size restrictions.
So i decided to try to partition the drive, i created 2 more drives.. 30gb each to put my movies in.
The ps3 still does not read it.. it shows that it reads my external but it says 'no files'

Im thinking the ps3 is trying to read the main drive on the external, which is still NTFS. It only shows the external, not the drives within it.

basically my question.. either how do i make my whole HD fat32, or is there a way to make a drive within my external be the (for lack of better term) main drive.
I figure if there is a way to turn the fat32 partition to run as the 'main drive' it would work.

Also, if anyone has been able to get their external working... or have any tips they would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks alot in advance guys

What brand external is that? Normally the manufacturer's support page would have a utility that'll let you do that.

Failing that, there is always FAT32Format which has always worked well for me.

I have tried to fat32format but it won't do 500gb drives.. 32gb is the biggest. I tried to partition so it would have a fat32 file but my playstation won't read each partition it still has the hd as one drive

Did you use the command promt to preform the format? if not there is a guide to do it here fat32format can format drives up to 2TB.
