    I read this awhile ago...


    1000 to the 3rd power = a Gig
    1000 to the 4th power = a Tera
    1000 to the 5th power = a peta
    1000 to the 6th power = a exa
    1000 to the 7th power = a Zetta
    1000 to the 8th power = a Yotta
    1000 to the 9th power = a ???????? and so on



    Is it correct?

    I believe so, though that is the more complicated way of looking at it (for me at least).

    Technically, yes. Though modern OSs and software try to redefine it to be binary-based.
    In reality, hard drive manufacturers are the only ones counting correctly.

    Edit: Snow Leopard is the only OS where this is different. Apple is going to use SI decimal prefixes instead of binary prefixes. This is terrible, and Apple sucks. Damn them for doing something right!!
