Skype no longer to support mobile phones built prior 2008 on the uk 3

had a tex from 3 today to say the lg ku990 phone(and mobile phones prior to 2008) i have will no longer be supported from mid april this year due to skype hardware chages anyone else no about this in the united kingdom?
